Frequently Asked Questions

Which devices does V1X support?

V1X connects exclusively to the Valentine One Gen 2 via Bluetooth using the Enhanced Serial Protocol (ESP). It does not support the original V1 Gen 1 or any other radar detector.

Why is V1X not connecting to my V1?

Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone and your V1 Gen 2 is powered on. Open Settings → Device and tap Connect. If the V1 doesn't appear, try cycling power on the detector. Some phone cases or mounting positions can affect BLE range — try removing the case if it's a persistent issue.

Does V1X work in the background?

Yes. V1X keeps the Bluetooth connection to your V1 alive and continues recording alert GPS locations when the screen is off, as long as you grant the "Always" location permission. This is required for accurate alert pins on the map.

What does Savvy do?

Savvy auto-mutes V1 alerts when your speed drops below a threshold you set. This eliminates nuisance alerts in parking lots and slow traffic. When your speed exceeds the threshold, alerts are unmuted automatically. You can adjust or disable Savvy in Settings → Filtering.

How do I create a lockout?

Long-press any alert pin on the map, or tap "Lock Out" from the Alert Detail screen. You'll see a confirmation sheet with the location, band, and a radius you can adjust. Tap Save. Future alerts matching that GPS area and band will be suppressed automatically.

What does the Ka false filter do?

It reduces nuisance Ka alerts from sources like radar-equipped vehicles and automatic door openers. The filter runs silently in the background — you don't need to configure anything. Enable or disable it in Settings → Filtering.

Does CarPlay require a special subscription?

Yes. CarPlay is included with your V1X subscription. It runs the live map with alert pins and V1 overlay on your car's screen — you do not need to look at your phone.

Is an account required?

No. V1X has no account, login, or sign-up flow. Everything is stored locally on your device.
