Overview

V1X is a companion app for the Valentine One Gen 2 radar detector. This policy describes what data the app collects, how it is used, and what is shared with third parties.

Short version: V1X collects your location to show your position on the map and record where alerts occur. Location data stays on your device except for community report coordinates, which are submitted to a shared backend so other users can see them. No account is required. No data is sold. No advertising identifiers are used.

Data We Collect

Location

V1X requests precise location permission to center the map on your vehicle and record GPS coordinates when alerts are received. Background location is used to maintain accurate alert positions when the screen is off or CarPlay is active. Alert locations, lockout coordinates, and your driving path are stored locally on your device only.

Bluetooth

V1X connects to your Valentine One Gen 2 via Bluetooth. No Bluetooth data is collected or transmitted beyond the local device-to-device connection needed to receive V1 alert information.

Community Reports

When you submit a community report (police, camera, or hazard), your current GPS coordinates and the report type are sent to the V1X reports backend and shared anonymously with other users in the area. Reports are not linked to any user identity, account, or device identifier.

Data We Do Not Collect

  • No account, login, or user identity
  • No advertising identifiers (IDFA, GAID)
  • No analytics or usage tracking
  • No crash reporting (in v1.0)
  • No payment information — subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple

Third-Party Services

V1X does not embed any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. In-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Subscription management is handled by Apple.

Data Retention

All locally stored data (alert history, lockouts, device preferences) can be cleared by deleting the app. Community report data on the server expires automatically after a short period and is not linked to any user.

Children

V1X is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
